The Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is just around the corner, May 19th.
It is difficult to think about anything other than the Derby when you live in Kentucky, particularly if you live in Louisville a little over two miles from Churchill Downs. The wedding however is two weeks from Derby Day, May 5th.
I am nuts about hats so for me a royal wedding means hats, hats and more hats by the most celebrated milliners in the world. Every British milliner I know is pretty much frazzled out.
It seems most people however are speculating about the Ms Markle’s wedding dress. Vera Wang is not making it. It has been confirmed by the super chic celebrated wedding dress designer herself.
The royal wedding countdown is on . . . . and there’s one thing on everyone’s mind: What will the bride-to-be wear down the aisle?
“Other than [wearing] us, and she’s not wearing us – there are two ways for her to go: American or British. Given her new position, her new status, and her new role, she’ll very well go British,” Wang predicted in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
As for the overall style and silhouette of Markle’s gown, Wang predicts it won’t be nearly as traditional as Princess Diana or Princess Kate’s wedding dresses.
Princess Diana’s was a huge confection of a dress. The dress the Duchess of Cambridge was married in was too low key for me but that has turned out to be her style overall. Her sister Pippa received much more attention for how she was dressed (smile) — who happens to be expecting her first child by the way. Congratulations!
Whatever Ms Markle chooses to wear on her wedding day, one thing you can say about her is the girl knows how to wear a hat. So she has my seal of approval! In that area anyway.
There are loads of royal wedding countdown sites but here’s one that looks pretty festive: https://yourcountdown.to/the-royal-wedding. Let’s get the party started.
Bye for now.
